Wet dog food is roughly 75% moisture, making it an excellent choice for dogs who don't drink enough water, seniors with dental issues, or picky eaters who turn their nose up at kibble. The higher moisture content also means dogs feel fuller on fewer calories, which helps with weight management.

Look for wet foods with a named protein as the first ingredient and minimal fillers. Guar gum and carrageenan are common thickeners — they're generally safe but some dogs with sensitive stomachs do better without them. Pâté-style foods tend to have higher meat content than stews or gravies.
